Jasper Necklace by Karla Jordan (1970s-80s)
Be still and Earth will speak to you.
Measuring 20″ from end to end, this matinee necklace features a 1.5″ jasper diamond with four jasper-beaded tassels hanging from it. Various sizes of jasper beads are strung on a white cord, secured with a lobster claw clasp and completed with a Karla Jordan stamped metal tag.
Wisconsin-based Karla Jordan Kollections, Ltd. created bridge jewelry from the 1970s until the ’90s using natural materials like stone and bone. Drawing inspiration from her time spent educating deaf children on a Navajo reservation in New Mexico, Karla Jordan (founder, owner, and president of KJK Ltd.) took pride in crafting custom-made pieces to promote self-esteem and self-worth in those who wore them. Jasper is the perfect stone for that.
Shamans and healers like the three wise men who visited baby Jesus carried talismans made of or containing jasper. Said to manifest strength, courage, and wisdom, the warm Earth-toned veins of this stone facilitate grounding and connection back to the natural world. This flat diamond festoon also acts as a great worry stone for rubbing and will help center its wearer.
